Golden State Warriors have been a quality outfit despite two losses in this season. One of them came in their opening game against the San Antonio Spurs, but it is their second loss against Los Angeles Lakers that must have hurt them badly. Now, they will have a massive chance to take revenge as they gear up to host Lakers at Oracle Arena on Wednesday.
The Warriors were completely outplayed by the Lakers last time around. It was surprising to see a team like Warriors comprising Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson finishing on the losing side. One of the major surprises during the match was Curry's performance where he did not hit a single three-pointer.
Curry will be aware of that. He will be keen to prove that was a flash in the pan moment for him, which everyone knows, but Curry will want to score multiple shots from beyond the arc to help his team emerge victorious. Forget Curry, Thompson and Durant, who have had a good season so far, will have plenty of things to prove against the Lakers.
It is that kind of a match, where Warriors will not only be desperate to win but also send warning signs with a wonderful performance. The Warriors, after their loss to Lakers, have won eight matches on a trot, and are aiming for the ninth win against the Lakers.
The Warriors will start the match as favourites, but they cannot take the Lakers lightly. The Lakers have definitely been a better team than last season, winning eight already. They come into this match with huge confidence after their impressive win over Oklahoma City Thunder, 111-109.
Nick Young and Timofey Mozgov were good, scoring 17 and 16 points respectively, but will they be able to come with such performance against Warriors. In fact, they need to come up with even better performance to halt Warriors' winning streak. Though they defeated Thunder without the services of D'Angelo Russell, who has a sore knee, it is going to be difficult for the Lakers in his absence, as he has been central to Lakers positive result this season.
