Gold and Satyameva Jayate have started off with a bang and are making an impressive collection at the Indian box office on the first day. They are set to become the biggest openers for Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, respectively.
Gold and Satyameva Jayate are one of the most-talked-about big-budget Bollywood movies of 2018 and the stakes are very high. However, their clash has left many keep their fingers crossed in the B-Town. However, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham's films have been released in 3,300 and 2,700 screens, respectively, on Independence day holiday.
The hype generated by their promos helped both the movies register decent advance bookings for its opening day. Both the movies have opened to good response in the morning shows on Wednesday.
Gold has registered an average of 70 percent occupancy in the morning show and it is leading the race at the multiplexes. On the other hand, Satyameva Jayate witnessed an average of 65 percent of footfalls in the morning show. Overall, Gold is bigger than Satyameva Jayate in terms of screen count, star power and advance booking. It also has an edge over the latter and will lead the race at the box office on the first day.

As per early trends, Gold is likely to collect Rs 22 to 25 crore net at the Indian box office on the first day. The movie is set to become the biggest opener for Akshay Kumar, beating the record of his 2015 film Singh Is Bling, which minted Rs 20.67 crore net in the domestic market on its opening day.
On the other hand, the early trends show that Satyameva Jayate is expected to collect Rs 15 to 18 crore net at the Indian box office on the first day. The movie is set to become the biggest opener for John Abraham, beating the records of all his previous films.
