Akshay Kumar starrer Gold has impressed most of the critics and has been getting positive reviews after a special screening was held on Tuesday, August 14.
Everything about Gold, from performances to the storyline, is being praised by the critics. Being highly engaging, the movie is being called the perfect film for Independence Day. The climax of Gold has apparently impressed most of the critics and it is said to be the USP of the film.
Directed by Reema Kagti, Gold is based on true events. Apart from Akshay, the film also features Kunal Kapoor, Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal among others.
Here is what critics have to say about Gold:
The Times of India: The emotions run high in the film, as a handful of Indians put their personal differences aside to make the country proud. As we witness India winning its first gold as a free nation, you also see the Pakistani players cheer for Indians playing on the field. Moments like this, make 'Gold' a film which is more just a sports drama. This one is surely worth its weight in gold. (3.5/5)
Bollywoodlife: Akshay Kumar's film will make you happy if you are a patriot. But the sense of deja-vu will be difficult to shake off. It is, however, an ideal Independence Day watch for the sheer sense of patriotism that it evokes. Make a family outing out of it. (3/5)
Bollywood Hungama: On the whole, GOLD is a brilliant, touching saga that would surely entertain viewers and make them hoot for the retro men in blue. At the box office, it is sure to strike Gold! Highly recommended! (4/5)
Times Now: Goldworks as an entertainer and very tactfully uses the patriotic angle in its favour. Watch Gold for it entertains you throughout and for the lovely star cast it has in Akshay, Amit, Kunal, Sunny, Vicky and Mouni. It was interesting to see that Goldis actually an ensemble rather than an Akshay Kumar vehicle. It gives enough importance to other characters and that's a win. (3.5/5)
