The global coronavirus caseload has topped 390.5 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 5.72 million and vaccinations to over 10.02 billion, according to Johns Hopkins University.

In its latest update on Saturday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and the death toll stood at 390,541,923 and 5,724,286, respectively, while the total number of vaccine doses administered has increased to 10,026,600,679.

The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 76,344,963 and 901,288, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

With the national case count topping 76.2 million, the death toll across the US rose to 900,528 as of Friday evening, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the tally.

California led the country in Covid-19 deaths, with 80,798 fatalities. Texas reported the second-highest fatalities of 80,459, followed by Florida with 65,993 deaths and New York with 65,578 deaths, the data showed.

States with more than 30,000 fatalities also include Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Georgia, Michigan and New Jersey. The US remains the country worst hit by the pandemic with the world's highest caseload and death toll, accounting for nearly 20 percent of the global cases and more than 15 per cent of global deaths.

Last year, the US Covid-19 deaths hit half a million on February 22, topped 600,000 on June 15, reached 700,000 on October 1 and exceeded 800,000 on December 14.

It took 113 days for the national death toll to climb from 500,000 to 600,000, 108 days to jump from 600,000 to 700,000, 74 days to soar from 700,000 to 800,000 and 52 days to surge from 800,000 to 900,000.

The second worst hit country in terms of cases is India (41,952,712 infections and 500,055 deaths), followed by Brazil (26,326,454 infections and 631,265 deaths).

The other countries with over 5 million cases are France (20,517,059), the UK (17,809,813), Russia (12,257,664), Turkey (12,051,852), Italy (11,449,601), Germany (10,779,641), Spain (10,199,716), Argentina (8,555,379), Iran (6,520,707), Colombia (5,943,783), Mexico (5,106,048) and Poland (5,083,332), the CSSE figures showed.

The nations with a death toll of over 100,000 are Russia (327,310), Mexico (308,829), Peru (206,406), the UK (158,521), Italy (148,167), Indonesia (144,320), Colombia (135,282), France (133,202), Iran (132,681), Argentina (122,439), Germany (118,548), Ukraine (107,712) and Poland (106,306).
