A few days ago, photos of a blind girl with a deformed face started doing the rounds of social media after they were shared by a Facebook user named Roopak Dutta.

The photos showed a young girl, Khadija Khatoon, who hails from Berachampa in the North 24 Parganas district, with congenital deformity, begging infront of the Kolkata GPO.

Her parents Rashid Mulla, 60, and Amina Bibi, 50, were unaware of their daughter's medical condition till she was two months old. Now 21, Khadija is also called Gajalakshmi because of the trunk-like part on her face, formed due to neurofibromatosis since her birth.

The images were shared by Roopak requesting people to share and help her get proper medical treatment. The story of the girl soon went viral on social media, and many have come forward to help and contribute towards the girl's treatment.

The Logical Indian, a Facebook page that had shared the news about the girl, had approached Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Craniofacial Surgery in Bengaluru, and have been told the hospital will treat the young girl for free.

However, it is said many are trying to persuade Khadija to go for treatment, as she is reluctant to get herself treated.
