Chinese smartphone maker Gionee is reportedly planning to launch the company's flagship Elife E8 in India next week.
The company has begun sending invites to media outlets for an event in New Delhi on 8 October. "BLOCK YOUR DATE FOR SOME GR8 NEWS NEW SMARTPHONE & a BIG ENTRY INTO E-COMMERCE," reads the invitation (courtesy, BGR India).
Though there is no specific mention of the device's name, the alphanumeric word "GR8" does give away the hint that the mystery smartphone could be the company's flagship Elife E8, which is due for launch in India since its unveiling in June.
Key attributes of Elife E8's is its camera. It boasts a 23.7MP rear camera capable of taking a detailed 100MP resolution photos with the help of company's special software as well as 4K videos. On the front, it sports an impressive 8MP snapper which is certain to appease selfie aficionados.
Other stipulated features include 6.0-inch QHD (1600x2560p) AMOLED screen and run on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop OS (with Amigo v3.1 UI) backed by 2GHz Mediatek Helio X10 Octa-core CPU, sumptuous 3GB RAM, 64GB inbuilt memory and a 3500mAh battery.
Gionee is said to reveal the Elife E8's price and release details on Thursday and is also expected to open its own e-commerce site just like Xiaomi and might begin selling its devices in India on the same day. Stay tuned for more updates.
