Chinese smartphone maker, Gionee has released a budget handset Pioneer P2S in India.
The new Gionee phone sports 4.0-inch WVGA screen and houses 1.3GHz Cortex A7 dual-core CPU, ARMA Mali-400 MP GPU, 512 MB RAM, 4GB in-built storage (expandable up to 32GB), 5.0-megapixel main camera, 0.3-megapixel snapper on the front and 1600 mAh battery which can run the phone up to 12.5 hours talk-time and close to 346 hours under standby time.
The Pioneer PS2 has been priced ₹6,499 and will be available in three color variants –blue, yellow and red.
Competition:
Though Pioneer P2S is competitively priced similar to the popular Moto E, the former still falls short in couple of prime areas like OS and RAM capacity, it ships with outdated Android v4.2 jelly Bean and has just 512MB physical memory and comparatively Motorola boasts latest Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS (v4.4.3 awaited this weekend) and sumptuous 1GB RAM. Even domestic players Micromax Unite 2, Lava Iris X1 and Xolo Q600s have similar specifications for similar price tag. One saving grace is that, Gionee phone comes with secondary camera on the front, which Moto E lacks.
