Chinese smartphone-maker Gionee has launched a new mid-range smartphone called S Plus in India.
The key aspect of this new phone is it boasts of Type-C USB connector. This feature is found in less than a handful of top-end phones in the market, and is set to become the industry standard in 2016.
For the uninitiated, Type-C USB is advanced connector that can be plugged into any device and users need not worry about orienting the port while plugging as its works in reverse as well.
Other notable features include 5.5-inch HD AMOLED display, Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, 64-bit class MediaTek Octa-core CPU, 3GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory and a 3150-mAh battery.
Gionee S Plus India release and price details:
The company has confirmed that the new Gionee S Plus will hit stores by this weekend across India for ₹16,999, making it the cheapest smartphone to have a Type-C USB port. It will be available in gold, white and dark blue.
Competition:
The Gionee S Plus will be up against the popular Motorola Moto X Play, Xolo Black 1X, Xiaomi Mi 4i and the soon-to-be-released OnePlus X.
