Gionee on Monday announced the launch of a series of new budget smartphone in India, first of which is now available at Rs 6,499. Gionee P5W is first of the new Pioneer-series that offers basic smartphone specs and some interesting features at an affordable price point.
Gionee's GM Timir Baran Acharyya said the target audience for its P5W smartphone is the younger crowd. Available in multiple bright colours, Gionee P5W offers attractive design and unique features. According to Tech First Post, the P5W smartphone sports a new AMI lock feature that scans user's face to unlock the device within 0.5 seconds. It also has DTS 3D surround sound tech for a better audio.
"The look and the feel of carrying the device have been thoroughly thought after. Aiming specifically at the youth of the country, we are sure that the device would gauge tremendous interest as like its predecessors," Acharyya was quoted as saying in the Tech First Post article.
In terms of specifications, Gionee P5W features a 5-inch HD display with 1280 x 720 pixels and Oncell technology. The handset is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core (unspecified) chipset with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage, which is expandable up to 128GB through microSD card.
Gionee P5W sports a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 2MP front snapper. The handset has a 2,000mAh battery and weighs 153 grams with 8.9mm thickness. Based on Android Lollipop, Gionee P5W runs the company's customised Amigo 3.1 UI. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G, and has dual SIM support.
Buyers have a wide range of colours to choose from, including white, black, blue, red, and yellow.
