Not much has been heard of Gionee's upcoming flagship smartphone, the Elife S8, despite its release date drawing close. Now, the device has reportedly passed a benchmark site, revealing a few specifications we haven't heard before.
Gionee Elife S8, with model number GN9011, has been spotted on Geekbench with a MediaTek MT6755 SoC processor (Helio P10 SoC), Google's latest operating system Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and 4GB RAM.
The Chinese mobile phone-manufacturer had earlier revealed the Elife S8 would come with hassle-free photo-shooting features and a pressure-sensitive display, but its screen size and other details are not known yet. However, it is expected to come with several feature upgrades over its predecessor, the Elife S7, released in April 2015.
It may be mentioned that Gionee Elife S7 sports a 5.2-inch Super-AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a 1,080x1920 pixel resolution and 424 ppi pixel density. Under the hood, it has a Mediatek MT6752 processor clocking 1.7 GHz, Android 5.0 Lollipop, 16GB internal memory (no microSD card slot), 2GB RAM, a 13MP main camera with f/2.0 autofocus, an 8MP front-snapper with 0.25-inch sensor size, and a non-removable 2,700mAh Li-Ion battery.
Gionee has confirmed its Elife S8 will be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2016 (MWC 2016) on 22 February.
"A new era of mobile photography has arrived, and we welcome our consumers to explore this era together with joy in their hearts. We believe technology is part of our lives and we enjoy the convenience and creativity it brings," Gionee had said in a statement.
"At MWC 2016, Gionee will introduce a new member to its S series — the S8, an innovative mobile device that comes with hassle-free photo-shooting features and a pressure-sensitive display," it had said.
