Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi starrer "Ghanchakkar" had a decent business in its first week.
The film made a business of ₹31.60 crore in first week of its release. Considering the star cast, higher collections were expected from the film. But the film failed to live up to audience expectations.
The first weekend collection of "Ghanchakkar" was much better than the earnings of previous release "Raanjhanaa". But during the weekdays the collections of "Ghanchakkar" declined drastically compared to "Raanjhanaa".
While, the Sonam Kapoor-Dhanush starrer managed to earn ₹35 crore in the first week, the Vidya-Emraan starrer earned only ₹31.30 crore.
"Did not witness ample growth over the weekend, but remained steady on weekdays, albeit on the lower side. The business was slightly better at multiplexes, but weak at single screens," trade analyst Taran Adarsh said.
The first week breakup of the film is: Friday ₹7.20 crore, Saturday ₹7.30 crore, Sunday ₹7.80 crore, Monday ₹2.80 crore, Tuesday ₹2.50 crore, Wednesday ₹2.10 crore and Thursday ₹1.90 crore.
The weekends collection of the film were in the same range of ₹7 crore, while weekdays were in the range of ₹2 crore.
"Ghanchakkar is very ordinary and except Sunday which was decent, the film has been quite disappointing over all. Thankfully, the cost of Ghanchakkar is not very high and if it continues to be the way it is, it just might break even. The audience has rejected the film. It has no repeat value and nothing to talk about," trade expert Amod Mehra said, according to Mid-Day.
