Borussia Dortmund hotshot Ilkay Gundogan could reportedly become the first Manchester City signing of the summer. The German midfielder has received interest from Arsenal and Liverpool as well, but now it seems that he is more likely to work under Pep Guardiola.
According to German publication Bild, Gundogan will sign for the Citizens for an initial fee of £20 million this summer, and the figure could rise to £23 million, with add-ons.
The 25-year-old versatile midfielder, who has won the Bundesliga on one occasion in the past, is currently sidelined with a knee injury and will also miss playing with Die Mannschaft in the Euro 2016. Gundogan is expected to be back from his injury only around September.
The player's current contract with Dortmund expires next summer. This season, he made 25 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring once and assisting thrice. Dortmund finished second in the German top flight this season, after registering ten points short of leaders Bayern Munich.
There is also a report that Gundogan could be signing a four-year deal with Liverpool. According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City's football director Txiki Begiristain met with the player's agent and uncle, Ilhan Gundogan in an Amsterdam hotel, earlier in March this year. It is claimed that Guardiola was present at the hotel too.
