For more than 30 years, Joel and Ethan Coen have tackled almost every film genre, from stoner comedy The Big Lebowski to revenge Western True Grit, and the 1960s New York folk music scene in 2013s Inside Llewyn Davis.

For their latest caper, the filmmaker brothers found themselves inspired by something a little closer to home – Hollywoods Golden Age. Hail, Caesar!, already out in theatres, follows a stress-filled couple of days in the life of Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin), a fixer at a major Hollywood film studio who is dealing with the mysterious kidnapping of his leading man Baird Whitlock (George Clooney). And because of being kidnapped off set, Clooney spends the movie in his Roman dress.

Well let me say this I didnt expect to be wearing a leather dress for the Coen Brothers – but you never know what youll be wearing with those boys cos theyll call you up – and I have worn some pretty idiotic outfits before with them, he said.

When asked what his wife, Amal, thought of it, he replied Well she came to the set one day and she has a great fashion sense and she thought that perhaps the skirt was a little too high for my age – it wasnt age-appropriate.
