Hollywood actor George Clooney and his lawyer fiancé Amal Alamuddin might be looking at an Italian wedding.
The actor is reportedly planning to marry Amal in his mansion on Lake Como, Lombardy. Clooney has reportedly coerced the local mayor to bring in stricter laws to ensure privacy at his lakefront villa, located in the town.
The series of new rules, including a fine of $800 on anyone found swimming within 100 meters of Clooney's mansion, has been brought in to keep the public and paparazzi away.
"The Monuments Men" actor's friends at Laglio Council on 21 June approved the new laws and huge fines, which are designed solely to keep uninvited guests away from his beautiful lakeside mansion Villa Oleandra, located in the picturesque Lombardy area of Italy.
The laws, which will be on for 24 hours a day, also prevent anyone from stopping on the road outside his house, or even swimming up to his villa. The restrictions will remain in place until 30 September.
The implementation of the new rules in the area suggests that Clooney, 53, may favor the Italian property for his wedding to lawyer Amal, 36, over his villa at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Laglio mayor Roberto Pozzi reportedly told the Daily Mail that new rules are meant to avoid 'unpleasant episodes', such as fans going up to Clooney's windows and yelling his name. The rules were also set to prevent the paparazzi from getting too close to his home, he added.
"This type of action is designed to bring about a change in people's behavior and create a more peaceful environment," said Pozzi. "We have to guarantee privacy and security for George Clooney and his guests."
Clooney and his fiancé Amal have been bringing their guests to the peaceful Italian mansion. The couple has also been seen together on dozens of romantic dates around the idyllic locale.
Recently, Amal's mother Baria Alamuddin, 66, also flew to the Lakefront mansion to spend the weekend with her daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law.
Clooney and Amal, who is British Lebanese, announced their engagement in April, and since then the media have been hounding their every move. The couple is yet to give out a date for their wedding. However, if sources are to be believed, Clooney and Amal want to keep it a low-profile event.
