American car maker General Motors is reportedly planning to pull the plug on Chevrolet Enjoy MPV. The company has reportedly produced about 3,900 units of the vehicle to dispatch in the coming month and the production will be discontinued this month, reported ET Auto.
The discontinuation is reportedly is due the slow sales in the country. With the advent of compact SUVs, the sales of MPVs in India has slowed down for the past couple of months. Understanding the shift of market, Chevrolet last week announced the cancellation of Spin MPV, which was due in 2017.
Chevrolet launched the Enjoy MPV in 2013 and the MPV was updated in 2015 with better interiors. Offered in 7- or 8-seater options and available in three variants -- LS, LT and LTZ -- the Enjoy is powered by either 1.3-litre diesel motor that can produce 74bhp and 172.5Nm of peak torque or the 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is tuned to churn out 99bhp of power and 131Nm of max torque. Transmission is taken care of by 5-speed manual gearbox.
Reports say Chevrolet is also planning to discontinue Sail sedan and Sail U-VA hatchback from India by the end of this fiscal. The company confirmed launch of the Essentia compact sedan, Beat Activ Crossover for India in the next two years. Chevrolet will also update the Beat hatchback, Cruze sedan and the Trailblazer SUV in the same time period.
