Geetha Govindam poster row: Rashmika Mandanna hits back at internet trolls

Actress Rashmika Mandanna hit back at internet trolls who mocked her over the romantic poster of Geetha Govindam featuring Vijay Devarakonda and herself. 

On July 19, Rashmika Mandanna tweeted a poster of Geetha Govindam that shows Vijay carrying her on his back. Her cuteness in this photo struck a chord with most of the audience. However, this did not go down well with a few film-goers especially from Karnataka, who blasted her saying that she is already engaged to Rakshit Shetty and she should not spoil his image with this kind of films.

The actress, however, hit back at the trolls, saying that they did it to get noticed and to get a reply from her. "I did reply to some of them and they apologised saying they just wanted to talk to me. They need to realise that we're human beings too. Some of us are targeted when they see our growth as an actor and since they're fans of other actors, they post such comments," Rashmika told Deccan Chronicle.

The actress added "Male actors romance other heroines even after getting married, but people have no problem with that just because they're men! It's like if a woman romances a guy onscreen after marriage, she loses her respect. It's disgusting that people think this way. I left the trollers a message asking them to DM me personally and not annoy my fans. There were many who were jealous that I was acting with Vijay and that I'm engaged to Rakshit!"

Rashmika made her acting debut with Kannada film Kirik Party, which gave her much-needed break. After starring in films like Anjani Putra and Chamak, she forayed into Tollywood with Chalo, which got her the attention in Telugu film industry. Following this film, she was flooded with several projects.

She has three Telugu films like Geetha Govindam, Devadas and Dear Comrade and two Kannada movies like Yajamana and Vrithra in her kitty. The actress is now waiting for the release of Geetha Govindam, which is set to hit the screens on August 15, as an Independence day treat. She is busy promoting the film, which has clearly generated a lot of curiosity among its fans.

The promos have shown that her cuteness and chemistry with Vijay are going to be highlights of Geetha Govindam. The film-goers are desperately waiting for the release of the movie.
