The makers of Geetha Govindam have announced that its earnings in Kerala will be donated to flood victims in the state. On the other hand, stylish star Allu Arjun announced Rs 25 lakh as donation.
Kerala is going through tough times with the floods claiming several 80 lives. Heavy rains caused landslides, which have destroyed the roards and bridges and disconnected the people in the state from other part of the country. The government, which is trying all possible ways to safeguard the citizens, is badly in need of support in terms of money, food and clothes and stuffs needed for day today livelihood.
Geetha Govindam, which is making brilliant collection at the box office, has also been released in Kerala. Its makers have gone on to show their kind gesture to the people of the state. Vamsi Kaka, the publicist for the movie, tweeted, "Producer Bunny Vas announces on behalf of @GeethaArts that the total share of #GeethaGovindam collected in Kerala will be donated to #KeralaFloodRelief #KeralaFloods (sic)"
Allu Arjun is the most popular Telugu actor in Kerala, where he is fondly known as Mallu Arjun. All his recent releases were dubbed and released in the state and have become hit the box office. Soon after hearing the news about the floods, the stylish star tweeted on August 13, "My Heartful Prayers to the Victims who were effected by floods in Kerala. #KeralaFloods #Keralarains"
Later, Allu Arjun announced, "People of Kerala will always occupy a special place in my heart for the unmatchable Love & Affection they shower . Their Love & the Loss is Unmatchable. But still I take the Honour to do my bit. I hereby pledge to donate 25,00,000 for the #KeralaFloodRelief. Love "M"Allu Arjun (sic)"
A day before All Arjun, Vijay Devarakonda, who is the hero of Geetha Govindam, donated Rs 5 lakh for Kerala flood relief. He tweeted on August 12, "And now I hear Kerala is reeling under floods and situation is quite bad! Kerala was my first holiday destination and has given me a lot of love for my work, I've met a lot of people from there who are some of the nicest people I know, I don't know how to reach out personally."
Vijay Devarakonda also requested his fans (who he calls rowdies) to contribute for the cause. He tweeted, "But I am thinking of you. Rowdies, let's all pitch in small amounts and we may make a huge change to someone like us in Kerala. Here, I'll start us off with 5,00,000/- #KeralaFloodRelief"
