Geetha Govindam day 9 box office collection: Vijay starrer surpasses Rs 80 crore mark worldwide

Geetha Govindam has taken the worldwide box office by storm in its nine-day-extended first week, with its total collection surpassing Rs 80 crore gross mark in the global market.

Amidst massive hype and expectations, the Parasuram-directed movie was released in over 1,000 screens across the globe on August 15 and opened to a thunderous response. Geetha Govindam collected Rs 16.40 crore gross at the worldwide box office on the first day. This small budget movie entered the list of top 10 biggest Tollywood openers of 2018.

The Vijay Devarakonda and Rashmika Mandanna starrer struck a chord with audience and critics and the word of mouth helped it even further. Geetha Govindam collected Rs 55 crore gross at the worldwide box office in its five-day-extended first weekend. The movie recovered over 200 percent of its distributors' investment in just five days.

Geetha Govindam witnessed around 50 percent drop in its collection on Monday as it was a working day and it remained rock-steady on the following weekdays. There was a spike in its business on Wednesday, on account of Bakrid holiday. Overall, the movie fared well on the weekdays as well.

Geetha Govindam has collected Rs 26 crore gross at the worldwide box office on the weekdays, taking its nine-day extended first week total to Rs 81 crore gross. The film is now racing towards Rs 100 crore mark in the global market. It is clashing with three new releases. It should be seen whether it will cross Rs 100 crore gross mark in the second week or not.

Made on a budget of Rs 5 crore, Geetha Govindam fetched Rs 15 crore for its producers from the sale of its theatrical rights. The movie has nearly amassed Rs 43.35 crore for its distributors in nine days. The movie has recovered nearly 300 percent of their investment and has become a blockbuster.
