Geetha Govindam is undeterred by the new releases as it made a good collection at the worldwide box office in the second weekend. Vijay Devarakonda's film has inched closer to Rs 100 crore mark in 12 days.
Geetha Govindam took the worldwide box office by the storm and collected Rs 81 crore gross in the nine-day-extended first week. The movie clashed with Neevevaro, Aatagallu, Anthaku Minchi and Lakshmi from its second Friday. The trade experts predicted that the new releases, which forced it out from cinema halls, might take a toll on its collection in the global market in its second week.
As predicted, its collection was partially affected by the new release on its second Friday, but it was much bigger than the opening day business of the new movies. But Geetha Govindam went to become the first choice for many viewers after the all the releases garnered mixed talk from the audience and critics.
The one-week-old flick went on strength to strength on its second Saturday and Sunday.
Geetha Govindam is estimated to have collected approximately Rs 12.75 crore gross at the worldwide box office in its second weekend and its 12-day total collection has Rs 93.75 crore gross in the global market. The movie needs to mint Rs 6.25 crore gross to surpass Rs 100 crore gross mark and it is likely to achieve this feat by the end of its second week.
Geetha Govindam has been made with a shoe-string budget of Rs 5 crore and its theatrical rights were sold for a whopping price of Rs 15 crore. The Vijay Devarakonda and Rashmika Mandanna starrer is estimated to have earned Rs 51 crore for its distributors in 12 days. The movie has recovered 340 per cent of their investments.
