Nearly 200 students from Rani Jhansi Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Delhi were hospitalised on Saturday morning after gas leakage was reported from a container at Pul Pehladpur in Tughlaqabad area, according to ANI.
The school was near the area where the gas leak occurred. The vice principal of the school said that over 50 students were rushed to the hospital from the school premises. Authorities have reported that the number of hospitalised students has reached almost 200.
Police and CATS team have been deployed at the spot.
"Central GoI hospitals instructed to be ready to help all victims of Delhi gas leak incident.My prayers are with children and families," Delhi Health Minister JP Nadda said.
The vice principal said that the students complained of irritation in their eyes and throat, and were soon rushed to a hospital for medical care.
DCP South East Romil Baniya said that all the children have been taken to four different hospitals for treatment. He added that none of the students are in a serious condition, and that the situation is now "normal."
