The first song, "Thik Emon Ebhabe," from upcoming Bengali commercial entertainer "Gangster" is out and it's looking fresh. Sung by Arijit Singh, the number is as soothing as it could get.
But what makes the romantic track more interesting is debutant Yashh Dasgupta and Mimi Chakraborty's unmistakable onscreen chemistry. In "Thik Emon Ebhabe," Yashh and Mimi are madly in love and all over the stunning Turkish landscape giving viewers major vacation goals.
Another highlight is the way the lead stars look. In basics, the clothing is completely in keeping with the soft frames. Not over-done or completely dressed down, Yashh and Mimi have their fashion stylists to thank.
Scheduled to open in theatres this Durga Puja, "Gangster" is Yashh's much-awaited silver screen debut and Mimi's 13th film. What's interesting to note is that both made a career switch from TV to celluloid, which is why they come with a dedicated and loyal fan base.
While Yashh became a household name with his powerful performance as business magnet Aranya Singha Roy in hit television soap "Bojhena Shey Bhojena," Mimi rose to fame with her on-point portrayal of Pupe in "Gaaner Oparey."
In a chat with the Times of India, here's what Yashh and Mimi had to say about pairing up for "Gangster:"
"I play Ruhi, a fun-loving girl. Her roller-coaster journey takes the film through a lot of twists and turns," she said. Yashh said he was beyond thrilled to be launched in a Birsa Dasgupta film. "No one knew me when I got a break in 'Bojhena Shey Bojhena,' but the audience slowly accepted me. It's a huge responsibility and I'm very happy that my launch is being helmed by Birsada," the young star further elaborated.
