Anurag Kashyap's much-awaited movie "Gangs of Wasseypur 2", which was released on Wednesday, opened to a roaring response at the box office.
The movie starring Richa Chadda, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Aditya Kumar, Reemma Sen, Huma Qureshi and Tigmanshu Dhulia is a sequel of Kashyap's "Gangs of Wasseypur" which was released in June.
"Gangs of Wasseypur 2", which received good response from film critics and sudience, successfully racked in Rs 30 million at the box office on the first day of its release.
The original version also garnered good reviews from both the critics and the audience, and collected Rs 260 million approximately in its third week itself.
Meanwhile, "Gangs of Wasseypur 2" collected Rs 32 lakhs during its preview screening on Tuesday.
"#GOW2 Tuesday preview screenings Rs 32 lacs," popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"#GOW2 picked up during the course of the day, yesterday. Wednesday *early estimates* indicate 3 cr. May even cross 3 cr," he added.
The five-hour film was screened at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival, which received good responses from the international movie buffs.
The first part, based in Wasseypur in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, tells the story of Sardar Khan (Manoj Bajpayee) and his rivalry with Ramadir Singh during the 1940s till 1990s.
Since Sardar's character dies in the first part, the focus in the second part shifts to his son Faizal Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who takes the story forward from the 1990s till 2009.
