Two Dalit brothers were allegedly beheaded by a gang of 20 people while they were sleeping on Monday night in Tamil Nadu's Chidambaram district.
The men, after beheading Kumar alias Ambulance Kumar (40) and Rajesh (30) at their house at Kalinjimedu, dropped their heads at the entrance of Rajah Muthiah Medical College Hospital (RMMC).
The gang reportedly attacked the deceased brothers family members and friends, who gathered to attend their sister's post-wedding ceremonies. They even threw a country-bomb at their house and at a hotel nearby RMMC hospital, The Hindu reported.
In the attack, the gang injured at least six people and caused damage to a car and a van owned by Kumar.
The police even detected two unexploded devices, but later deactivated them.
The injured, including Muthamizhan (21), Vincent Paulraj (22), Soundar (27), Pandian (27), Mani (19), Rabhakaran (20), were admitted to RMMC Hospital and Pandian's condition is said to be critical.
Four of the 20 attackers, including Pattabhi, Sivamani, Gajendran and Pathayiram have been arrested and are being interrogated in connection with the murder.
The Dalit brothers' bodies were taken to the hospital for post-mortem, but their family members reportedly refused to take away their bodies for funeral rites demanding the arrest of the attackers.
