The filming for Game of Thrones season 7 is scheduled until February 2017 and that gives a lot of clues about some major surprises we might have in store. According to Irish newspaper The Sunday Life, UFC superstar Conor McGregor is one such person who could make an appearance in one of the best American TV series of the decade.
McGregor, 28, is everywhere in the news nowadays. He has held two UFC titles -- the featherweight and the lightweight -- this calendar year, he was recently stripped of the featherweight title by the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) company, he acquired his boxing license just days back, he made an appearance at the famed 'Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare' video game, he is expecting his new born in May 2017, he is sought after by the WWE... The news regarding the Irishman just never seem to end!
Who wouldn't want such a sought-after personality to feature in one of the most enthralling TV shows of the decade?
"He [McGregor] was headhunted as it were by HBO [network where GoT premiered], as one of the Game of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan. They believed he would be a perfect fit for the show," a source closely following the development has told the publication.
David Benioff and DB Weiss, creators of the Game of Thrones, are major UFC fans, as per reports. They appeared at UFC 196 in Las Vegas earlier this March, to witness the first of the two welterweight fights between Nate Diaz and McGregor.
They were reportedly disappointed after McGregor lost the fight on the night.
Can this lead to the ultimate truth getting revealed in the coming days? We'll track that closely. The Game of Thrones season 7 is scheduled to premiere mid-2017.
