When episode eight of "Game of Thrones" returns on Sunday after a long break owing to Memorial Day weekend, fans will finally get to know who will win the epic battle between the Red Viper and The Mountain.
The battle between Oberyn, known as the Red Viper, and Ser Gregor, nicknamed "The Mountain" is essentially the fight between the good and the bad.
While the fight is a perfect opportunity for Oberyn to seek revenge for the murder of his sister Elia, and her children, "Game of Thrones" has a history of killing good guys, and therefore, fans are worried about the future of Martell in the series.
On his experience filming the fight scene, which took five days, Pedro Pascal, who plays Oberyn said that "it felt just as epic as people are anticipating it to be."
Getting into the mindset of the character wasn't that difficult as he could relate to Oberyn, Pascal told The Sun Daily. "If anyone had done any harm to a family member, it would provoke in us a great anger and taste for blood.
"Personally, I have an older sister who is close to me. That's an immediate connection to Oberyn's past. It seems that Elia is his greatest love and so much of his person is shaped by her death."
While it is not immediately know if Oberyn would survive the fight, co-writer Dan Weiss told Entertainment Weekly that the fate of an important character is determined by the fight.
"One of the most important characters in the show will live or die based on this fight."
"It's one of the best, if not the best, combat scenes we've done so far. It's the culmination of 20 years of anger and hatred and thirst for vengeance coming to a head," Weiss said.
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Season 4 of "Game of Thrones." If you do not want to know what will occur in forthcoming episodes do not read any further.
In the meantime, spoilers floating around suggest that both Oberyn and The Mountain will die at the end of the epic fight.
Although Oberyn manages to wound the giant by finding chinks in The Mountain's armor, The Mountain gains control in the course of the fight and kills Oberyn by punching his face.
However, the Red Viper manages to get his revenge as he had coated his spear with poison, which causes The Mountain to die slowly, Latin Times reported.
Meanwhile, the Red Viper-Mountain fight is not going to be the only highlight of the episode. It remains to see if Littlefinger, who murdered his newly wedded wife in the previous episode, will get away with the act. While the trailer of episode eight shows Sansa testifying against Littlefinger, it is not sure if he will get convicted.
"Game of Thrones" Season 4, Episode 8 return to HBO on Sunday, June 1.
