Sony Entertainment Television's upcoming show "Rani Mahal," which is supposedly the Indian version of HBO's widely popular fantasy series "Game of Thrones," has been kept on hold.
According to reports, show producer Vikas Gupta is unable to dedicate time to the show as he is busy with other commitments at the moment. "The reason behind Rani Mahal getting delayed is Vikas Gupta (Lost Boy Productions), who has now become the head of channel & TV. Being 'Rani Mahal' mammoth, the show can't be done without Vikas Gupta being part of Lost Boy, so once he finishes his assignment with the &TV channel, he will roll out the show with his Production team on television," a source told India Forums.
Reports of Sony Entertainment Television remaking the popular hit series in India started doing the rounds during the premiere of "Game of Thrones" Season 5.
Popular TV actors like Sakshi Tanwar of "Bade Achhe Lagte Hain" fame, "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein" actress Anita Hassanandani, Ankita Lokhande of "Pavitra Rishta" fame, yesteryear Bollywood actress Reena Roy, Yuvraj Thakur and many others have reportedly been roped in to play crucial roles on the show. While Sakshi will reportedly be seen as Daenerys Targaryen, Anita will play the role of Cersei Lannister.
The report further stated that the makers had already filmed the pilot episode along with some of the talented actors and was about to hit the screens. However, with the delay in the project, viewers will have to wait for the series to go on air.
