World's leading smartphone maker Samsung announced to host the company's first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2019 next month in the US on 20 February 2019.
In the past several years, the South Korean consumer electronics giant usually picked New York City as a venue for launching the new Galaxy S series, but this time it has surprising picked San Francisco to unveil new products, the very place, it hosted Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2018 last November.
Though there is no mention of the devices' name, the video teaser with numerical 10 does give away the hint that the company, in all probability launch the Galaxy S10. It is expected to come at least models—one, a generic Galaxy S10 and big screen-based Galaxy S10+--similar to the 2018-series Galaxy S9 (& S9+). There are also reports of the company announcing a low-model with a moniker Galaxy S10 Lite. Samsung has launched Lite series in the past, but usually a few months after the original model, so we are not sure if the latter makes its debut on 20 February.
The Samsung's trailer also hinting that the Galaxy S10 may come with a notch on top, as the '0' of the numerical 10 at the end of video tend to split on top of the phone screen giving away familiar water-drop notch design. As a matter of fact, Samsung had shown off multiple notch designs such as Infinity-O (seen in officially launched Galaxy A8s), Infinity V (expected in Galaxy M series), New Infinity and Infinity Flex (for bendable phone) in SDC 2018.
The Galaxy S10 might come with 'New Infinity' with edge-to-edge display (from the right to left) and heavily trimmed bezels at the top and the base. It was actually revealed in the One UI explainer note (below) to the media.
As far as the other aspects are concerned, it is said to come with 6.1-inch (S10)/6.4-inch (S10+) with QHD+ resolution and also boast ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanner and advanced front camera with 3D sensors for facial recognition in addition to Iris scanner.
On the back, it is said to come with the triple camera module, one, 16MP (with F1.9 aperture) with a wide-angle lens (123-degree Field-Of-View), another 12MP with (F1.5-F2.4) variable aperture capability and 13MP telephoto lens (F2.4 aperture) supported with advanced laser autofocus and LED flash. Like previous iterations, the shell is made of good blend of glass and metal to exude premium feel.
Under-the-hood, the Galaxy S10 series is expected to come with Android Pie-based Samsung One UI 4,000mAh (minimum), 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB storage (expandable up to 1TB via microSD card). Depending on the region of sale, the Samsung phone will come with either new Exynos 9820 or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. There is a high chance of Samsung incorporating the 5G modem in the new devices, it has promised to release one in the first half of 2019.
