"Power" fame Bobby aka KS Ravindra is reportedly set to replace Sampath Nandi as the director of Power Star Pawan Kalyan's much-hyped movie "Gabbar Singh 2", which is touted to be a sequel to director Harish Shankar's blockbuster film "Gabbar Singh".
Reports suggest that the makers of "Gabbar Singh 2" are likely to change the director and might rope in popular scriptwriter Bobby, who recently directed Ravi Teja's film "Power".
"Bobby will replace Sampath Nandi as the director of this movie," ReleaseDay quotes a source as saying.
The rumours about the replacement have surprised many in the Telugu film industry, though the reason is unknown and the makers are yet to make an official announcement regarding this.
After he was roped in for "Gabbar Singh 2", Sampath turned producer with "Gaalipatam". Released on 8 August, the movie has done well at the box office. Meanwhile, the director has also got a couple of other projects lined up to shoot. It is reported that the director himself walked out of Pawan's project as he could not wait for long.
Meanwhile, there is another rumour that Pawan, who has earlier directed the film "Johnny", has also got plans to direct this movie.
"Sampath Nandi has decided to move on to his next project as he's spent considerable amount of time waiting for this project to roll. Therefore, Pawan sir is thinking of donning the director's hat on this project," New Indian Express quoted a source as saying.
Speculations about "Gabbar Singh 2" started soon after the release of "Gabbar Singh" in 2012. Pawan made an official announcement about it late in 2013. Sampath penned the script and narrated it to Pawan. After making some corrections, the actor approved the film's story.
"Gabbar Singh 2" was expected to start rolling earlier this year, but the project was put on hold after Pawan entered politics. After campaigning for the BJP and TDP, the actor was busy with the shooting of Venkatesh's "Gopala Gopala" and is expected to take up "Gabbar Singh 2" after wrapping up this project.
