Akshay Kumar is back at the box office with his second release of the year "Gabbar Is Back". The film is among the big releases of the year and is expected to fetch a good start at the domestic box office.
"Gabbar Is Back" has made quite a good impression on viewers before its release. The trailer of the film and songs received positive response on social media.
The trailer of the film has garnered more than 3 million views since its release and has been well received by moviegoers. "Gabbar Is Back" has created curiosity among viewers with its storyline, and the star casts.
Also, the film is a remake of 2002 Tamil film "Rammana", which was a blockbuster hit. With all points working in the favour of the film, there are huge expectations from Akshay's latest release to end the tough phase at the box office.
This year, box office witnessed only few hit films, including Akshay's "Baby" which is the highest grosser Bollywood film of 2015. The next hit film is Varun Dhawan's "Badlapur", followed by Ranbir Kapoor's "Roy".
With "Gabbar Is Back" release, trade analysts are expecting that the film will do wonders at the box office.
"Baby" is the highest grosser, but the film failed to earn 100 crore in its lifetime run. The box office run of "Baby" ended at 95 crore. "Roy", which was the next big release failed to cross the 50 crore mark, while "Badlapur" crossed 50 crore mark.
The box office performance of "Gabbar Is Back" depends highly on its review and word of mouth. Recently, several movies, including big budget films have flopped at the box office owing to not-so-great reviews.
But since the pre-release buzz is positive, the film might have a good start and end the dry spell.
"Gabbar Is Back" is helmed by Krish and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The film also stars Shruti Haasan, Suman Talwar and Sunil Grover in pivotal roles.
The film will hit screens on Labour Day holiday, i.e. on 1 May.
