Akshay Kumar-Shruti Haasan starrer "Gabbar Is Back" has crossed the ₹50 crore mark at the domestic box office within five days.
The film has simultaneously shattered the lifetime box office earnings record of Varun Dhawan's film "Badlapur" and became the second highest grosser.
"Badlapur" had earned approximately ₹50 crore during its theatrical run at the Indian box office. The film was the second highest grosser in 2015 and the second film after Akshay's "Baby" to cross the ₹50 crore mark.
However, "Gabbar Is Back" has shattered those records from its five days box office collection.
On Tuesday, the film earned approximately ₹5 crore, taking its total to ₹51.16 crore.
"#GabbarIsBack crosses ₹ 50 cr mark on Day 5. Fri 13.05 cr, Sat 11.36 cr, Sun 15 cr, Mon 6.75 cr, Tue 5 cr. Total: ₹ 51.16 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film has lost significant screens in the South due to Kamal Haasan's Tamil film "Uttama Villain" and in Maharashtra due to Marathi film "Timepass 2".
But the film managed to do well at the box office and crossed ₹50 crore mark.
The film, produced under Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali production banner, features Akshay along with Shruti Hassan, Sunil Grover and Suman Talwar in pivotal roles, while Kareena Kapoor Khan has done a cameo.
