MK Stalin, DMK working president and leader of Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, and other party MLAs were detained by police after they blocked traffic outside the assembly complex on Wednesday, June 14, to protest against their eviction from the House. They were later released.
The DMK MLAs had raised slogans against the video of a 'sting' operation in which two AIADMK MLAs purportedly claimed that party legislators were bribed to gather support for Edappadi K Palaniswami government's trust motion, the Hindu reported.
Following the ruckus, Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal gave orders to evict all DMK MLAs from the Tamil Nadu Assembly. The party MLAs later blocked traffic in front of the state assembly complex to protest against their eviction resulting in their detention.

Stalin told media that a CBI probe should be launched into the cash-for-vote sting operation. He also demanded that the current state government be dismissed in light of the video.
Stalin also lashed out at Speaker Dhanapal for not allowing the Opposition to raise the matter in the state assembly. "The speaker forcibly evicted us from the assembly. This is a murder of democracy," Stalin told reporters before being detained.
The Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) also staged a walkout condemning the eviction of the DMK MLAs from the Assembly, the Hindu reported.
