Multi-starrer Fukrey Returns has surprised all with its excellent opening box office collection. After a superb start on Friday, the comedy film witnessed massive growth in its business on day 2.
Starring Pulkit Samrat, Ali Fazal, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh and Richa Chadha, Fukrey Returns opened up at the box office with a collection of Rs 8.10 crore net on Friday. It was much more than expectations.
Fukrey had earned Rs 2.62 crore on its opening day, and thus, the first-day collection of Fukrey Returns came as a surprise. The movie performed even better on Saturday, making its two days' collection more than what the original film had earned in one full week.
Fukrey Returns collected Rs 11.30 crore net on its second day, taking its two-day earnings to Rs 19.40 crore. "#FukreyReturns is wooing audience and winning hearts... Emerges TRIUMPHANT at the BO... Hits double digits on Day 2... Crosses *Week 1* biz of #Fukrey [₹ 18.42 cr] in just 2 days... Fri 8.10 cr, Sat 11.30 cr. Total: ₹ 19.40 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Although the movie did not receive many positive reviews from the critics, the audience seems to have liked it. Also, strong word of mouth for Fukrey Returns has been instrumental for its impressive box office business.
Having made on a limited budget, Fukrey Returns is likely to almost recover its cost of production over the first weekend itself. It is safe to say that the scenario would not have been the same if the big-budget Padmavati was released on its earlier scheduled date.
Padmavati was supposed to hit the screens on December 1, just a week before Fukrey Returns. However, that did not happen, and thus Fukrey Returns is completely dominating the box office.
