Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August every year and this year it falls on the 2nd day of the month. It's a day to recollect those happy moments spent with one's close friends and thank them for those wonderful moments.
The day has a universal appeal, with people from all over, including India, expressing their feelings in their own unique ways.
Hollywood celebrities such as Jared Padalecki, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emily Rickards and Stana Katic share their special moments of friendship. We bring you here their inspiring quotes, anecdotes and thoughts on the special occasion:
Nina Dobrev: People aren't defined by their relationship. The whole point is being true to yourself and not losing yourself in relationships, whether romances or friendships.
Ian Somerhalder: I have a million acquaintances but just two or three true friends. I can't hide anything from them.
Jared Padalecki: I'm so happy with my family, my career and my friends, and I'd like for them to be here forever, so I guess loss is what scares me the most.
Ginnifer Goodwin: They say men and women can't be friends, but that's not true.
Norman Reedus: I went camping one time when I was twelve, to the Great Lakes. My friend stepped in really deep muddy water and started screaming and sinking. My mom ran up, and I was just standing there a foot away and wouldn't stick out my hand to pull him up. So I'm probably not the best person to take on a camping trip.
Paul Wesley: I wasn't some weird loner in school, but I definitely wasn't invited to any of the cool parties.
Emily Rickards: I'm always interested to meet my friends' parents, or who they were raised by. Where they grew up, I always find very interesting.
Stana Katic: When I was 16, I was in Boston and some friends said, 'You want to go to New York?,' I went with my roommate... These guys said, 'We're going to this club. Just don't go in the washroom.' It was CBGB. I had no idea what it was or the history of all the music. All I knew was this was my first 21-and-over club and I managed to get in!
