French President Francois Hollande is going to be the chief guest at the 67th Republic Day ceremony on 26 January next year, according to reports.
Earlier this year, US President Barack Obama was the chief guest at the R-Day parade in New Delhi.
Some reports had suggested that apart from Hollande, UK Prime Minister David Cameron and Spanish PM Mariano Rajoy Brey were among the leaders being considered to be invited as chief guest for the 2016 Republic Day celebrations.
The reports come during French foreign minister Laurent Fabius's visit to New Delhi.
Hollande's France is reeling under the worst attacks on its soil since World War II after Isis terrorists killed 129 people in simultaneous attacks last Friday.
