The condition of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is stated to be critical after he was put on life support late on Wednesday (August 15). Vajpayee is admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
"Former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee has been admitted for the last nine weeks at AIIMS. Unfortunately, his condition has worsened over the past 24 hours. His condition is critical and he is on life support system," the chairperson, media and protocol division of AIIMS, Aarti Vij, said in his statement.
The BJP stalwart had been rushed to AIIMS on June 11 and has been undergoing treatment for several ailments. He was earlier diagnosed with urinary tract infection and suffered a few other illnesses.
