Bollywood actress Yukta Mookhey's marriage to Prince Tulli is in shambles. The former Miss World has filed a complaint against her husband at the Amboli police station for alleged domestic violence.
The actress had moved with Tulli to Nagpur in 2008 and reportedly returned back to Mumbai three months ago. She is presently staying at her parents' house with her three-year-old son in Andheri.
According to officials, Mookhey has submitted a written application alleging harassment following which the police had carried out an inquiry but no FIR was registered.
"She told the cops to not take any action in the matter," said DCP Pratap Dighavkar (Zone IX) according to The Times of India.
"In her complaint, Mookhey alleged that she had often been beaten and troubled by her husband Prince Tuli. A non-cognisable offence has been registered after her complaint," Press Trust of India quoted Amboli police station's senior inspector Harishchandra Vhatkar as saying. However, officials denied giving further details about the case.
The NC complaint was lodged by Yukta three months ago, but no case has been registered till now.
According to The Times of India, Yukta wanted to return to Mumbai to continue her acting career, but her in-laws were not comfortable with that. "I believe that was the flashpoint between the couple," TOI quoted a family friend of the Tulis' as saying.
The 35-year-old was crowned Miss World in December 1999 at the age of 22. After winning the crown she started her acting career in Bollywood. In Nov 2008 she married hotelier Prince Tulli at the Grand Maratha in Mumbai.
