Diana Hayden has recently become proud mother of a baby girl. The former Miss World delivered her first child on 9 January, Times of India.
The report said Diana, who is now 42 years old, has delivered a baby girl who was conceived from an egg that she had frozen eight years ago. Egg freezing refers to a process in which a woman's eggs are extracted, frozen and stored, so when she is ready to become a mother, the eggs are fertilised and transferred to the uterus.
Diana said she choose the method of egg freezing as she was too busy with her career and did not want to have a baby at that time. "I froze my eggs for two reasons: I was busy with my career at that time and more important, I was very clear I was going to wait to fall in love and marry before having a baby," the report quoted Diana as saying.
Diana married American-origin Collin Dick when she was 40. She also said a woman should not sacrifice her career under the pressure of getting married and becoming a mother. "A career woman need not think about her biological clock and get pressured into getting married earlier than she wants to or have a baby when she isn't ready," Diana said. The report also said Diana's baby weighed 3.7 kg and was 55 cm long.
