Liverpool's skipper Steven Gerrard has announced that the ongoing season would be his last as Reds player.
He has been one of the finest players that the club has ever produced, making 695 appearances for his boyhood club. He has given it all in his Liverpool career, which started 17 years ago.
A number of teams were interested in signing the player in the past, with the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid offering mega deals, but was not lured by money, a true legend.
Steven Gerrard told the club's official website, "This has been the toughest decision of my life and one which both me and my family have agonised over for a good deal of time.
"I am making the announcement now so that the manager and the team are not distracted by stories or speculation about my future.
"Liverpool Football Club has been such a huge part of all our lives for so long and saying goodbye is going to be difficult, but I feel it's something that's in the best interests of all involved, including my family and the club itself."
Ever since the news broke out about his official confirmation of leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, the social media went berserk and primarily Twitter overflowed with tweets praising the Liverpool legend.

I've been fortunate to have played with some top players in my time but Stevie g is easily the best I have played with . #gerrard #LFC''
Though, his future is not certain, on all probability the player has a good chance of playing his trade in the MLS.
