OnePlus has released a new OxygenOS update to the 2016-series OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T across global regions.
Most Android phone-makers stop supporting older phones after 18 months after the launch, but very few like OnePlus, show genuine concern to loyal patrons by going beyond their obligation service period. Case in point is the OnePlus 3 series, which made its debut in 2016 is getting the software patches. It is bringing improvements to the user experience and also protection from the latest malware threats.
The company says the new Android Oreo-based OxygenOS 5.0.4 will fix the random crashing of WhatsApp, camera zoom bug in the Snapchat app on OnePlus 3 and 3T models. It also enhances the native photography app capabilities in addition to Google's latest July 2017 security patch.
Here's how to install OxygenOS 5.0.4 on OnePlus 3 and 3T series:
1. Once you get an update notification on your screen, select "Yes, I'm in."
2. After the software is downloaded, select "Install now."
3. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
4. Your phone is now updated.
Since the OTA roll-out process is being carried out in stages, it will take a few weeks to reach all regions. Until then, device owners can check for updates manually by going to Settings >> About Phone >> System Updates >> Check for the new firmware.
