Ford's iconic muscle car Mustang has been on offer in India since July this year. However, the sales were limited to Mumbai and Delhi. Now, the good news is that the US auto major has announced pan-India bookings of the Mustang GT.
Ford Mustang, which made its India entry in July with a price tag of Rs 65 lakh, is said to have received a good response in the market. The two-door four-seater sports car, which is available in India in only one variant -- the GT Fastback -- sold 35 units in the first month. The new Mustang is the first version that comes with factory designed right-hand-drive, which is the export model brought to India as CBU (Completely Built Unit). It has sports car-like coupe with a long hood and short rear deck, and flaunts dedicated logo of a horse that denotes compact, quick, agile and sleek.
At the heart, Mustang gets the legendary V8 engine that is tuned to churn out 524Nm of torque, propelling the car to 240kmph. It features fully independent rear suspension system and the transmission is handled by a six-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox. Mustang is equipped with paddle shifters, powering the rear axle. The car will offer four driving modes — Normal, Sport+, Track and Snow or Wet.
In November, Ford India reported a 22.19 percent growth in total sales at 21,004 units as opposed to 17,189 units in the same month last year. The export of the company during this period jumped 67.86 percent to 14,128 units as compared to 8,416 units in November 2015. However, domestic sales declined by 21.62 percent to 6,876 units last month as against 8,773 units in the same period a year ago.
