Ford India posted 7.94 percent growth in total sales at 22,043 units in October as against 20,420 units in the same month of last year. In October, the export of the company grew to 14,535 vehicles compared to 10,412 units in October 2015, registering an increase by 39.59 percent.
However, the domestic sales of Ford for the month of October were down by 25 percent to 7,508 units last month as against 10,008 units in the same period a year ago.
"The automotive industry is seeing the impact of a good monsoon, 7th pay commission and other macro-economic indicators like inflation," said Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford India.
"As we look for the industry momentum to sustain, Ford remains committed to its strategy of product-led innovation, a differentiated customer experience, and breaking the myth on our cost of ownership," he said.
Ford Motors, which entered India in 1995, has two manufacturing facilities in the country. While its manufacturing facility at Maraimalai Nagar, near Chennai produces the Ford EcoSport and Ford Endeavour, besides the other models, its second unit in Sanand, Gujarat produces Ford Figo Aspire, and new Figo hatchback. Ford's India portfolio includes five models—Ford Figo hatchback, Aspire sedan, EcoSport compact SUV, Endeavour SUV and Ford's iconic muscle car Mustang. The new Mustang is the first version that comes with factory designed right-hand-drive, which is the export model, brought to India as CBU (Completely Built Unit).
