Us auto major Ford launched its new generation Endeavour SUV in India just a few days ago and rumour has it that the company is considering a crossover variant based on its Figo hatchback.
If the latest rumours are true, Ford could be planning a crossover for the Indian market that would challenge the dominance of models like Fiat Avventura, Hyundai i20 Active and Toyota Etios Cross. A report of Indian Autos Blog reveals that Ford acknowledges the new segments like crossover as a potential area for the company and could bring a new variant based on its new Figo hatchback model.
Nothing much is known about the rumoured crossover of Figo at this point of time as the model is still believed to be in its inception stage. Ford's current India line-up includes Figo hatchback, Figo Aspire sedan, EcoSport SUV and Endeavour.
Ford's latest addition to its line-up Endeavour has been priced at Rs 24.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The third generation Endeavour, which made its debut in the country on 20 January, is a full-sized seven seater SUV that is pinned to rival Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in India. Under the hood, the all-new Ford Endeavour houses two TDCi diesel-engines -- 3.2-litre Duratorq five-cylinder TDCi diesel and 2.2-litre Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi diesel units.
