Ford India slashed prices of the EcoSport SUV by up to Rs. 1.12 lakh on March 11 and that seem to have had a positive impact on the vehicle's sales. The American auto manufacturer sold 4,456 units of the EcoSport in March 2016. The previous best monthly sales were October 2014 when the company sold 4,528 units of the EcoSport, reports Rushlane.
Ford India also registered 68.91 percent month-over-month sales growth from 2,638 units in March 2015. The price cut was announced in the wake of the arrival of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Maruti's compact SUV launched on March 8 found 5,563 takers in the first month itself and overtook Ford EcoSport's sales.
Ford India cut the prices of the EcoSport in the range of Rs. 53,700 to Rs. 1,12,300 on March 11. The deduction in price is applicable to the entire trim level and the difference of prices depends on the variants. After the price cut, EcoSport prices starts at Rs. 6,68,800 for the petrol variants and Rs. 7,28,800 for the diesel variants, ex-showroom, Delhi.
The Ecosport, which got a minor facelift in October 2015, features 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine, which is retuned to dish out 99bhp of power. The 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol and the 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engines continue as it is.
