Ford EcoSport, which had witnessed drop in its sales after the arrival of its rival Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is back in the game now notching sales of over 4,000 units. The company sold 4,885 units in July in India.
The EcoSport was a huge hit in the Indian market as it was the first offering in the compact SUV segment in India. However, the SUV could not sustain the momentum after the emergence of other models in its segment like the TUV300 and the Vitara Brezza. But the Ford was not ready to throw in the towel easily. The company slashed the prices of the model soon after the launch of the Vitara Brezza and it looks like that strategy has helped the company to increase the sales of the EcoSport. The American auto company has cut the prices in the range of Rs. 53,700 to Rs. 1,12,300.
Going forward, Ford is expected to bring the facelifted avatar of the EcoSport in the country next year. The new EcoSport is expected to accommodate changes both inside and outside. Meanwhile, the company has added the passenger and driver airbag as standard across all its trims in India. Ford is already offering ABS and EBD as standard across all variants except in the Ambiente trim.
Ford EcoSport gets 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine, which is re-tuned to dish out 99bhp of power, 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol and the 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engines. It has now been priced in the range of Rs. 6,92,900 to Rs. 9,82,100 (ex-showroom Delhi).
