A new prototype of Ford EcoSport has been spied testing in Europe in what appears to be the facelift version of the SUV.
Interestingly, the new test mule was seen without rear-mounted spare wheel, suggesting the facelift 2015 EcoSport is likely to come with a bare rear design. The prototype was originally published by World Cars Fans and from the images, it looks like the make-over is limited to minor tweaks at the rear-end profile of the SUV.
Going by the report of the original publisher, the Europe version of new EcoSport is likely to be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, which is scheduled to happen in March.
Besides the cosmetic updates, mechanically the SUV is likely to remain the same in all markets. It is also not sure if all variants of EcoSport will ditch the rear-mounted spare wheel especially in a market like India.
In India, EcoSport facelift is expected to reach in 2016. Considering that there will not be any change in the engine, the new model will get power from the same 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and the 1.0L EcoBoost engines.
Currently, the 1.5L petrol engine gives 112PS power and 140Nm torque and the revolutionary EcoBoost EcoSport engine churns out a power of 125PS and 170Nm torque, with a mileage of 18.9kmpl.
The diesel variant of EcoSport is the most fuel efficient among all models, delivering a mileage of 22.7kmpl. Recently, the company has started offering EcoSport with the LED Daytime Running Lights. There are also reports that the company is considering sunroof for EcoSport in India.
