American automaker Ford is expected to bring the new EcoSport facelift to India during the festive season this year. But the company seems to be planning to bring another update on the current model before that.
Ford is testing a new dual-tone coloured EcoSport in India. A prototype of the updated EcoSport has been spied testing, indicating the arrival of a special edition model. The model of the EcoSport that has been spotted stays within the styling and proportions of the current model, and the only change appears to be the dual-tone colour.
Donning a Mars Red body shade, the new EcoSport is seen with black racing body stripes at the centre of the bonnet and white shade on the roof, A, B and C pillars. The alloy wheels seem to be the same as seen in the current model in the market while the door mirrors get the body colour.
Ford has been updating the EcoSport in India time and again to keep the compact SUV afresh. Earlier this year, Ford launched the Platinum edition of the EcoSport in India, which was also followed by an update of infotainment system on the Titanium and Titanium Plus variants of the model.
The EcoSport is offered in three engine options – 1.5-litre petrol engine, 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol motor. While the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine of the EcoSport develops 123bhp and 170Nm of torque mated to five-speed manual transmission, the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine churns out 109bhp and 140Nm of torque mated to either manual or automatic transmission. The 1.5-TDCi diesel engine is tuned to pump in 99bhp power and 205Nm torque mated to five-speed manual transmission.
Ahead of the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in India, Ford has also slashed the prices of the EcoSport in India to pass on the benefits of the new tax regime to customers in the country. The compact SUV EcoSport is now priced in the range of Rs. 7.18 lakh to Rs.10.76 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
