Ford EcoSport Crosses 1 Lakh Sales Milestone

The US auto major Ford on Tuesday announced that the company's compact SUV EcoSport has reached one lakh sales milestone.

Ford EcoSport, a phenomenal offering in the SUV segment continues to make history with its sales in the domestic and export markets. India-made EcoSport also has markets in South Africa, Taiwan, Australia and several other European countries.

Launched in June 2013, Ford EcoSport has been earning tremendous response from the auto lovers across the world for its stylish packaging and performance.

"The 100,000 milestone is indeed special to all of us at Ford and further demonstrates the faith customers have in the product," said Vinay Piparsania, executive director for Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India.

The company recently resumed the bookings of EcoSport in the country after suspending it for sometime due to the heavy demand in the sub-continent market. Now with a total of one lakh owners and counting (domestic wholesales and export markets), Ford plans to speed up the production of EcoSport in the country in order to reduce the waiting period of the SUV ahead of the festive season.

"The demand for Ford EcoSport continues to be extremely strong. We have diligently worked with our suppliers to significantly reduce the waiting period for most variants of the Ford EcoSport to meet this demand. With improved availability, we are also planning to introduce a third shift at our Chennai plant to ensure that the Ford EcoSport is available across our showrooms, ahead of the upcoming festive season," Piparsania added.

Engine Specifications and Mileage

The EcoSport comes with 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.0L EcoBoost engine under the hood. The 1.5L petrol engine gives 112 PS power and 140 Nm torque. The revolutionary EcoBoost EcoSport engine churns out a power of 125 PS and 170 Nm torque, along with a mileage of 18.9 kmpl.

The diesel variant of EcoSport is the most fuel efficient among all models, delivering a mileage of 22.7 kmpl, which can churn out a power of 89 bhp and 204 Nm torque. Recently, the company has started offering EcoSport with the LED Daytime Running Lights. There are also reports that the company is considering sunroof for EcoSport in India.
