Ford India is all set to launch the new Figo hatchback on 23 September, and in tune with that Ford dealers across the country are selling their existing stock of current generation of the Figo with huge discounts.
A report from Oncars claims the discount for the current generation Figo starts from Rs 70,000 to Rs 1.10 lakh, depending on the state and dealerships. The discounts are purely at the discretion of the dealerships and discounts may be according to the cars' year of make.
It is a common strategy to clear out the existing stock right before a new model comes in. As the dealers are in quest to sell of the current stock of cars, prospective customers who do not mind going for an older model will get the vehicle at much more affordable prices than ever before.
The 2011 Indian car of the year, Figo is powered by 1.2-litre Duratec petrol engine that develops 70bhp and 102Nm of torque mated to five-speed manual transmission. The 1.4-litre Duratorq diesel engine develops 68bhp and 160Nm of torque mated to five-speed manual transmission. The current figo measures 3,795mm in length, 1,680mm width, 1,427in height with a wheelbase of 2489mm.
The current generation Figo was one of the most successful cars for Ford India. The Figo crossed the 3,00,000 units sales mark in August 2013 and the hatchback is exported to over 37 international markets, reported AutoCarIndia
With the new Figo, Ford India wants to replicate the success of the current model and the EcoSport. Under the hood, the new Figo hatchback is expected to employ 1.2-litre petrol motor and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine, which will be mated to five-speed manual transmission. The top-end variant is likely to get automatic transmission. The prices are expected to be between Rs 4.5 lakh to 7 lakh.
