John Abraham's latest outing Force 2 has made decent collection at the worldwide box office in the first weekend and surpassed the mark of Rs 30 crore gross in three days.
Amidst a lot of hype and promotion, Force 2 was released in around 2,000 screens across the domestic market on Friday. Trade experts predicted that its business would be affected by Narendra Modi government's demonetisation move. The film opened to a poor response with its occupancy ranging between 15 to 20 percent in the morning shows. The positive talk boosted its business in the afternoon and evening shows on the first day.
The John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha starrer collected Rs 6.05 crore nett at the Indian box office on the first day. A strong word of mouth helped it go on strength to strength on the following days. Force 2 collected Rs 20.05 crore nett at the Indian box office in the first weekend. Its day-wise breakup is Rs 6.05 crore on Friday, Rs 6.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 7.50 crore on Sunday. Its gross total stood at Rs 27.85 crore.
Force 2 has garnered decent response in key international markets in its opening weekend. The movie raked in Rs 60.83 lakh in the US, Rs 18.04 lakh in Canada, Rs 30.23 lakh in the UK, Rs 1.11 crore in UAE/GCC, Rs 23.84 lakh in Australia, Rs 22.14 lakh in New Zealand and Rs 3.37 lakh in Malaysia in three days.
Force 2 has collected approximately US $842,000 (Rs 5.74 crore) at the overseas box office in the first weekend. Over 65 percent (US$550,000) of its total international collection has come from UAE/GCC. The film has shattered the records of John's last outing Rocky Handsome and Shivaay, which raked in US$728,000 and US$823,000 respectively at the overseas box office in their opening weekends.
The action thriller produced by John Abraham and Vipul Amrutlal Shah has been made with a whopping budget of Rs 45 crore. Force 2 has collected approximately Rs 33.58 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the first weekend. The film has become one of the biggest Bollywood money spinners of 2016.
