The second season of the popular anime series "Food Wars" titled "Food Wars! The Second Plate" has started its broadcast. The first two episodes have been aired on the online streaming website Crunchyroll.

"The Second Plate" has been directed by Yoshimoto Yonetani and the series is being animated at JC Staff studio. Shogko Yasukawa is writing the script for the episodes and Tomoyuki Shitaya is supervising the character design adaptations from the original manga counterpart.
The cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Soma Yukihira, Risa Taneda as Erina Nakir, Minami Takahashi as Megumi Tadokoro, Ikumi Mito as Shizuka Ishigami, Maaya Uchida as YÅ«ki Yoshino, Ai Kayano as RyÅko Sakaki, Taishi Murata as Shun Ibusaki, YÅ«suke Kobayashi as Zenji Marui, Ai Kakuma as Mayumi Kurase, Rina Hidaka as Urara Kawashima, Banjo Ginga as Senzaemon Nakiri and Rikiya Koyama as Joichiro Yukihira.
The anime is an adaptation of the ongoing manga series by the same name created by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki. It is published in Weekly Shonen Jump and so far, ten volumes of the manga have been published. In North America, it is published by Viz Media.
"The Second Plate" continues the story right after the events of Season 1 finale where eight of the most talented students of Tohtsuki Academy compete against each other in a culinary battle. The winners will move to the Fall Selection, a cooking competition that will decide the fate of the students. The series highlights the evolution of the protagonist, Soma Yukihira, who is looking forward to become the "greatest chef of the world."
